East of Osaka Studios was born in 2002. When I was trying to think of a brand identity, I was having difficulty, until my friend Donald suggested I use something with Osaka in it. Why Osaka? First of all, I lived in San Francisco practically all my life, and I wanted to honor the City's sister city in Japan, which happened to be Osaka. And since San Francisco is techincally located far east of Osaka, well, that's how East of Osaka was born.
